Customer Review: Decent block with a warning to gift givers

I bought this block as a gift for a picky chef to use at home for his growing collection of knives. Much to my dismay and total embarrassment, the block was shipped with a HUGE sticker on the outside blaring that it was a "special gift with purchase" and no packing slip included. I definitely paid for this gift and feel completely ripped off. It's a decent knife block, but should not be sold on Amazon with a $20.00 price tag or more if it is a blatent free gift with purchase.
Just a word to the wise for those who may be thinking of sending this as a gift.

Dull cutlery is dangerous cutlery. One of the easiest ways to maintain sharp edges on your fine cutlery is to store the knives in a block. An added benefit is that your knives are conveniently ready and waiting for the next time you need to carve a roast or julienne some veggies.This hardwood block stores up to eight kitchen knives, a sharpening steel, and kitchen scissors within reach on the counter while protecting knife edges from the nicking they would suffer in a drawer. The block is slanted to provide easy access to knife handles and has rubber feet to protect the counter surface. The natural-finish block displays Henckels's famous logo beneath the scissors slot in the front. --Fred Brack
